China uses cameras with facial and license plate recognition in all public places. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and algorithms extract behavioral information and records it in the profile of each individual. Video surveillance programs such as ‘Skynet’ and ‘Sharp Eyes’ utilize 200 million cameras, prospected to be 600 million by 2020.
AI uses other sources too to track behavior such as online activities, shopping and ratings from other people. Based on this information, the system calculates a social credit score.
